The return of a famous face in Dallas. Jason Kidd will be the next coach of the Mavericks, the franchise with which he won the NBA title as a player in 2011, several US media reported on Friday.
The 48-year-old former playmaker had been an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers for two seasons. After his playing career in 2013, he coached the Brooklyn Nets for a season. He then took care of the Milwaukee Bucks for four years.
“I hate losing J-Kidd but I’m happy for him at the same time! Good luck Kidd!“, tweeted LeBron James, NBA champion with the Lakers last year.

Kidd was ten times All-Star in 19 NBA seasons, with the Mavericks, but also the Phoenix Suns, the New Jersey Nets, then, at the end of his career, the New York Knicks. He is the second most prolific passer in Grand League history with 12,091 regular season assists. He was twice Olympic champion in 2000 and 2008 with the United States.
The Mavericks have also hired as general manager Nico Harrison, who was a Nike executive for two decades, according to media reports. The Athletic, ESPN and USA Today, citing unidentified sources.
