Shane Lowry fully assumes his presence at the start of Saudi International – Circuits pros

Irishman Shane Lowry is one of the 30 or so players authorized by the PGA Tour to play the tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in early February. But for Lowry, unlike his compatriot Rory McIlroy, he doesn’t make it a matter of principle.

Shane Lowry spoke this week during a video conference organized by the Saudi International press service. Asked about his first Ryder Cup appearance during defeat of Europe at Whistling Straits he explained that it left him with a bitter taste and that he had only one goal to beat the Americans at all costs in 2023 in Italy.

Regarding his participation in the Tournament now stamped Asian Tour in a few weeks on the shores of the Red Sea,
Shane Lowry said he was “a golfer and not a politicianTo cut short any controversy.

The tournament which takes place at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City from February 3-6 attracted an exceptional field of players with some of the best players in the world such as Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson.

“Listen, obviously we’re not trying to hide from the people who are communicating about this tournament what’s going on here, but in the end I don’t think I’m a politician, I’m a professional golfer.” Lowry said.

The private investment fund (PIF) now main sponsor of the tournament is at the origin of the creation of LIV Golf Investments, the company at the head of which we find Greg Norman and who has just invested in the Asian Tour.
