After a long struggle with his abdominal muscle injury, Damian Lillard has apparently decided to have an operation. Brian Windhorst reports (ESPN).
The exact decision about the type of intervention and the associated duration of the rehab will be made by Lillard this week. According to Windhorst, it is likely that Lillard will be out for six to eight weeks. The end of the season for the 31-year-old is not excluded.
According to media reports, Lillard already suffered the injury at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer, and the injury can also be seen this season.
In 29 missions so far, Lillard has averaged 24.0 points and distributed 7.3 assists per game with throw rates of 40.2 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from downtown. The six-time all-star has never had such low ratings in an entire season of his career.
Lillard has already missed eleven games this season, most recently against the Los Angeles Lakers on December 31 (106: 139). With a balance of 16-24, the Blazers are 10th in the Western Conference and run the risk of missing the play-in tournament and thus the postseason completely without Lillard.
