A new edition of the Summit Aconcagua 2022, a challenge that unites sports, caring for the environment and solidarity with the objective of climbing the highest mountain in America (6,962 meters above sea level).
The challenge organized by the “Fundacin Gran Fondo” brings together a group of 12 unique athletes, 9 Argentine Olympic athletes and 3 prominent personalities from our country and Uruguay.
The members of this expedition, in addition to having excelled in their disciplines, have successfully overcome the obstacles that were having in their way. Some of those who will participate are David nalbandian, Paula Pareto, Federico Molinari, Santiago Lange Y Walter Prez.

For all of them, sport has been a fundamental tool for self-improvement. Through this challenge athletes seek promote sports practice among youth. To that end, they will share both their experience on Aconcagua as well as interesting anecdotes that they have lived throughout their trajectories.
On the other hand, they are aware of the climate crisis that affects our planet and the consequences that this is generating in our country: it has been proven that the white mantle of Aconcagua, which is believed to be eternal, loses meters every year due to warming global.
This expedition tries to make society aware that nothing and nobody is exempt from the consequences of climate change, not even the highest mountain on the continent. The first step is to accept that we are part of the problem and that it is up to us to do what is necessary to find the solution.

Through this initiative, the team also seeks to raise funds to support the work carried out by the Cecilia Baccigalupo Foundation, who works in the psychomotor development of children with intellectual disabilities, and the community kitchens that were financially supported by the late Argentine Olympic athlete Brian Toledo.
With the support of the Government of Mendoza, through the Mendoza Activa Program, The ascent will begin on January 20, 2022 and the athletes will remain on the mountain for 18 days. The return to the City of Buenos Aires is scheduled for February 8, 2022.
The proposal is supported by the Fundacin Fortabat, to donate $ 10 to the beneficiary social organizations for each meter that each participant of the expedition climbs.
