CARACAS – The Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe through its president Juan Francisco Pello Herrera has announced that the 2023 Serie del Caribe will be played in the University stadium of Caracas.
The Capitoline stadium will host for the ninth time the so-called “Clásico del béisbol del Caribe”, the last time dates back to 2002 when the Tomateros de Culiacán won the victory. And so Venezuela is preparing to host the Serie del Caribe for the 15th time, the cities that have had the honor of hosting this sporting event are: Caracas 8 occasions, Puerto La Cruz (2), Porlamar (2), Maracaibo, Maracay and Valencia (1).
In addition to the hosts of Venezuela, the participating countries in the 2022 edition should be Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Venezuela has won the Caribe series on seven occasions: Navegantes del Magallanes (on two occasions), Águilas del Zulia (2), Leones del Caracas (2) and Tigres de Aragua (1).
Among the Venezuelan stars who at least once participated in this tournament we find: Bob Abreu, Edgardo Alfonso, Luis Aparicio, Antonio “Tony” Armas, Damaso Blanco, Miguel Cabrera, Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel, Endy Chávez, Omar Vizquel, and others . Without forgetting the Italo-Venezuelans Giovanni Carrara, Andres Galarraga Padovani and Marco Scutaro.
