The Spanish pilot receives the approval of the doctors to train again, proof of the recovery of the diplopia that made him miss the end of the 2021 course

This Monday a news appeared that raised doubts about the status of Marc Márquez. And, on Thursday, these disappeared at a stroke. Honda announced a virtual event with riders from various disciplines defending their colors for this Friday the 14th, Dakar, trial, Superbikes and, of course, MotoGP, although only with three of the four names scheduled for the 2022 season: Pol Espargaró, Álex Márquez and Takaaki Nakagami, with the conspicuous absence of their number one theorist.

The reason, not to interrupt the process of recovery from the diplopia that made him miss the last two races of the last season, the one on his return after a serious injury to his right arm. An eye condition that made him see double, which he had suffered in the past (in 2011, when he was competing in Moto2) and which had even made him undergo surgery.

The first good news about his condition had arrived at the end of December, when it was reported that the doctors who follow the evolution of his injury had decided to maintain the conservative treatment he was following, that is, surgery was ruled out at that time.

The second has been much better. «Marc Márquez underwent a medical examination with Dr. Sánchez Dalmau last Monday. The ophthalmologist confirmed a clear improvement in the vision of the eight times world champion. This evolution led to the rider receiving authorization to train on a motorcycle ”, stated the Repsol Honda note. The discipline chosen by Márquez was motocross, the day this past Wednesday and the Circuit of Ponts, in Lleida.

Next step

“After three months, first day on a motorcycle enjoying like a child!”, Said the rider himself from his social networks, with a video as a summary of that return to action that confirms his exit from the tunnel. “Wow, what a handsome guy!”, The Cervera expressively commented at the end of that clip as he smoothed his hair.

The next step in their preparation will be to get on a speed bike, all with their eyes (already recovered) on the first MotoGP preseason training that will take place on February 5 and 6 at the Sepang Circuit, in Malaysia. In addition, finally this Friday he will appear before the media at the Honda virtual event, in his first public act since it was reported by surprise that he was not going to take part in the Algarve Grand Prix, the penultimate date of the 2021 World Cup.
