Munich (SID) – Basketball cup winner Bayern Munich narrowly missed the second EuroLeague victory within just three days. Against the table neighbors AS Monaco, the team of coach Andrea Trinchieri lost 78:83 (35:40) in their own hall. It was only on Tuesday that Bayern had defeated Zalgiris Kaunas, bottom of the table, with 74:65.
Even 26 points from the outstanding Corey Walden did not help Bayern, after the 40:40 shortly after the break, the hosts ran after a deficit until the end. With eight wins and eleven defeats, the play-off places are still within reach for Bayern as well as for the Monegasque tied on points.
