Botafogo fan who went viral by offering R$20 to John Textor takes ‘Football Manager’ to former officials to play

Thales Maia, fan of Botafogo who went viral by offering a R$ 20 note to investor John Textor on the American’s arrival in Rio, made another joke this Thursday, the day the club’s advisors will vote on the sale of the club’s SAF to the businessman.

The geography teacher took a game “Football Manager 2022”, one of the most famous in the world in which the user can manage, on and off the field, any football club. The intention, according to him, is to hand it over to a former leader.

– I want to see if I can give it to a mummy, an old aunt. Enough of managing Botafogo. If you’re going to manage something, go play FM! – exclaimed Thales, when explaining the joke on “Canal BrauneFogo”.

Thales did not name names, but made clear references to members of the former Executive Football Committee, who led Botafogo in the relegation campaign in the 2020 Brasileirão.

Former president and member of that group, Carlos Augusto Montenegro made statements at the time that he was considering taking over the team’s technical command to see if he could save the team from sticking, an episode that generated a lot of repercussion in the press.
