Jaden Agassi was born with the ability to handle a racket from his sporty parents. But unlike his mother Steffi Graf and his father Andre Agassi, he does not use a tennis bat, but a baseball bat.

Her parents are tennis legends, but the children of Steffi Graf, 52, and Andre Agassi, 51, have little interest in this sport. Daughter Jaz Elle, 18, prefers to dance, and son Jaden Gil discovered his passion for baseball. While Jaz Elle recently caused a sensation on the net with a photo that showed her in good shape from head to toe, Jaden Gil is keeping a low profile. But that should change now, because the 20-year-old is aiming for a career as a professional baseball player.

Tennis? No thank you! Jaden becomes a baseball player

Jaden already played baseball as an eight-year-old, a sport that he loves more than anything, as his famous father once revealed. Shortly after his 18th birthday, Jaden took the big step towards professional sport: The son of the 22-time Grand Slam winner and the eight-time Grand Slam winner signed a contract with the University of Southern California (USC). The then 18-year-old was one of the top 100 youth players in the United States and is still considered one of the country’s greatest talents today. But the young man could not take off yet.

Steffi Graf’s son had teething problems

First Jaden Agassi had to undergo an operation on his elbow in 2019, in which a torn ligament was replaced with a tendon, then he slowly started training again after a five-month break. “Actually, our son Jaden wanted to start college, but unfortunately that didn’t work,” Steffi Graf told GALA in 2020. And was also happy to some extent: “So we had both children with us a little longer. As parents, we of course enjoyed that very much.” During the season, Jaden played baseball more than his parents did in tennis tournaments in their youth.

His coaches see a great talent in Jaden. According to youth coach Evan Greusel, his strengths include his “excellent hand-eye coordination” and “quick legs”, and he has also proven his skills as a pitcher and batter. By the way, instead of using the famous name of his father, Jaden walks onto the field under the name “Rock”.

New Year New luck

The new baseball season for the team at the University of California starts in mid-February. Perhaps the perfect opportunity for Jaden Agassi to finally show everyone what he can do as a pitcher.
