In danger start of training

The start of spring training for the middle of next month of February, in complexes in Arizona and Florida, is compromised, according to the result of the first meeting of this year held yesterday, via video conference, representatives of the team owners and members of the players’ union.

“No deal. It was never going to happen today. MLB made a proposal. The reaction among the players was not positive. Few on both sides expected it to be. The question is how soon the union responds. That spring training starts on time is something that is in danger, “said Jeff Passan, columnist for the ESPN portal on his Twitter account.
Major League Baseball and the Players Association resumed talks in an effort to move toward a labor agreement.

MLB – which spurred the meeting – was expected to come up with a new proposal on economic and competitive issues that addresses player concerns. It is the first such meeting between the two parties since the lockout began on December 2.

More than a hundred Venezuelans are on the roster of 40 players or in the role of guests. According to the schedule, pitchers and catchers must report to training beginning February 15, with the first preseason games scheduled for February 26 and the season opening on March 31.
