It hasn’t been another day Sara garcia Y Javier Vega, the Spanish couple that make up the Pont Grup Yamaha motorcycle team in the Dakar. To the emotion of finishing the race they have added a unique moment on the podium. Vega has taken advantage of the organization’s tribute to kneel down and ask his girl to marry him.
The Zamoran, very emotional, received her engagement ring on the verge of tears and said yes to the man from Madrid to the applause of the rest of the Dakar participants.

The request puts the culmination of a particularly tough rally for them. Sara García, who was contesting her fourth Dakar, has had discomfort in one arm practically since the start of the competition, but was still able to reach the finish line in position 75, just over 16 hours behind the winner, the British Sam Sunderland. .
Vega, who was running in the Original by Motul class, without technical assistance, acted as a backpacker for his already fiancee to finish in 87th place. It was also the fourth Dakar for him.
Last year he suffered a hard fall in the last stage, just 30 kilometers from the end, but the eagerness to cross the finish line led him to dispute that last section with four broken ribs, a pneumothorax and a hemothorax. He then spent fifteen days in hospital, half of them in Saudi Arabia.
