His injury was a blow that hit the spirits not only of the Cavaliers, but of many people in the basketball world who regretted that NBA“>Ricky Rubio had to walk away again when he was going through a great moment. But the Spaniard looks to the future with optimism and makes clear what some of his priorities will be.

Rubio was interviewed by the newspaper La Vanguardia. In that talk with the journalist Joan José Pallâs, the still Cavs player, talked about several topics, one of them the injury that left him out of the season, a situation that after passing the bitter pill, he takes in a better way.

«It will be necessary to get used to the body and the mind to other routines, but my motivation is incredible. The challenge has changed and he accepts it enthusiastically. I think about it as if I had been given a year to grow as a person and as a player, to come out stronger. My regret lasted a day. I have been injured, what is he going to do? I am complaining about 300 days and Klay Thompson has been out for more than 900 days. He’s back with a smile.”

It was something he commented on on the subject of his injury and the long recovery he will have to go through.

Rubio and his future…

Ricky will not be able to be in Eurobasket 2022, but he will seek to support the Spanish National Team in other functions. In the talk, the former Barcelona and Joventut player did not hide his desire to return at some point to play on his land and follow in the footsteps of the Gasols or even play alongside Marc, if both of them had time.

“I would very much like to return to Spain. Without a doubt it would be at Barcelona or Joventut, but there is a long way to go. I admire Marc a lot. That of coming back and not caring where to play, but in a project to believe in and a city that loves him so much».

Ricky also left an important reflection regarding his future. He has had a career where stability has not been very constant and that changes with his new role as a family man and of course, his priorities will change, including the NBA:

“When my son starts school, the NBA won’t be worth it. I’ll have to go back, I don’t want her to be dizzy from one side to the other when she’s six years old, at the age to start making friends. We discussed it with my wife and we have it very clear. There will come a time when basketball will not be the priority.
