The next chapter in FC Barcelona‘s hunt for Álvaro Morata’s signature. The club is seriously considering involving Memphis Depay in a swap deal. The plans are still in their infancy, but according to Diario SPORT, Juventus would very much like to incorporate the Dutchman.
Juventus will hire Morata from Atlético Madrid this season, but would have already decided not to exercise the option to buy after this season. However, the Old Lady only wants to participate in an interim departure of the Spanish striker if it can add an attacker to the selection itself. Memphis could be that asset. Juventus are looking for a replacement for Federico Chiesa, who is out of action this season due to a knee injury.
At Barcelona, a number of players will have to leave to make room to sign Morata, should a deal be struck with Juventus. Involving Memphis in the transfer talks would give Barcelona room in the salary budget. In addition, the Spanish superpower wants to sell Samuel Umtiti before the end of this transfer window.
SPORT emphasizes that a possible exchange deal between Juventus and Barcelona is still in its infancy. The clubs are expected to meet in the coming days to reach a possible deal.
