The Dutch vlogger Bas Tietema seems to be quietly preparing for a career as a professional cyclist. In Spain he already experienced 2 internships with the Belgian formation Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles. “We don’t know where this will end,” said team manager Christophe Brandt.
Bas Tietema has earned his stripes as a vlogger in recent years. In the past Tour, for example, he had the riders compete against each other in a wheelie contest in one stage.
Last week, the 26-year-old Dutchman was spotted in Spain, where Tietema went on training rides with the professional cyclists of Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles.
Does Tietema aspire to a professional career? “Bas wants to see what level he can achieve if he trains with professional cyclists,” says Christophe Brandt, manager of Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles.
“Bas already trained during our internship in December. He is getting better every time and we don’t know where that will end.”
Is there a professional contract waiting for Tietema? “He still has to make some progress. After a few months we will evaluate him. Everything is possible.”

It is also no coincidence that Tietema trains with the riders of Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles.
“Bas is supported in his vlog activities by Bingoal. We have already had several conversations with him to also create content for our team.”
But maybe it’s not just about creating content and the vlogger becomes a runner… To be continued.

Tietema was already on the podium of Paris-Roubaix
Bas Tietema is no stranger to the peloton. As a youth rider, he finished 3rd in Paris-Roubaix in 2014 for promises. Nathan Van Hooydonck, Pavel Sivakov and Loïc Vliegen were his teammates in the training team at BMC.
At the end of 2018, he called it quits as a rider. Tietema got the cycling bug again last year and started his own cycling team with 2 vlog companions: Tour de Tietema Cycling Team. In September Tietema finished 3rd in a Dutch amateur race.
