800 judokas fought on Saturday and Sunday. Once again the Dojo Romanais has demonstrated its ability to offer athletes the best conditions to express themselves.
Despite the health crisis, this 39e edition was a success. The Kings Cup is indeed a benchmark in the world of hexagonal judo.
World champions, from France participated in this event, Nadia Toumani from Rome, Sarah Nichilo, Audrey La Rizza, Guillaume Chaine… And of course Hugo Métifiot who fought on Sunday afternoon.
800 judokas present
Once again, President David Gougouzian’s team has demonstrated its ability to organize large-scale events.
Due to the health crisis, arrangements had been made to protect all the judokas, health passes required, gel at the edge of the mats, masks required until entering and leaving the mats… The 800 athletes present evolved in the best conditions. From Saturday afternoon the minims were in the running, followed by the cadets and Sunday afternoon by the seniors (teams). The clubs came from the Paris region of southern France, from the Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes region, even from Reunion…
A meticulous organization, flawless, perfection. Everything is timed, nothing is left to chance.
The Romans shone
The representatives of the Jacquemart city performed, in particular on Sunday in individual cadets. Among the women, the Romanaise, Laura Bonnnamy in less than 57 kg wins ahead of Chloé Peche (Pays Rochois). In less than 63 kg, Manon Armand ranks 3e. The best was yet to come. The Roman club achieved a magnificent team double.
Among the women, the Romanaises won the gold medal, Dojo Romanais 1 (Océane Vetter, Lisa Richard, Alexiane Huber, Mathilde Agier, Clélia Poujol).
In men’s, team 2 of the Dojo Romanais (Victor Saltel, Benoit Jamet Fournier, Mathis Roux, Ethan Bellier-Bénistant, Maxence Roustan, Nour Eddine Said) was ahead of Chambéry.
Team 1, led by Hugo Métifiot won 3e place (Louis Hugo Vergnon, Lilian Mayot, Loic De Oliveira, Loïs Léger, Moussa El Boukili, Hugo Métifiot, Florian Labouri, Samuel Bouboune, Corentin Mahey).
The Roman Dojo, it’s 953 licensees, without the French top 5 for several years. 1is club of France in the number of female licensees. 1is club de France in the number of licensed black belts (400 trained).
