South American Qualifiers: Bolivia and 26 players to face Venezuela and Chile | South American Qualifiers

The Bolivian coach, the Venezuelan César Farías, released this Friday a new call with 26 players, including seven ‘foreigners’, to face Venezuela and Chile in the next dates of the South American qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and a previous friendly with Trinidad and Tobago.

The list has some variations with respect to the list of 34 players presented at the end of December by Farías, the most notable are the inclusions of defender Luis Haquín, who has just signed for the Peruvian Carlos Mannucci, midfielder Ramiro Vaca, of the Belgian Beerschot , and forward Jaume Cuéllar, from the Spanish CD Lugo.

The new payroll ratifies the call to Marcelo Martins Moreno, the top scorer in the qualifiers who plays for the Brazilian Cruzeiro, the goalkeeper Carlos Lampe from the Argentinian Vélez Sarsfield, the defender Jairo Quinteros from the American Inter Miami and the midfielder Franz González who signed a a few days with Platense from Argentina.

Of the previous 34, eleven players were left out, including the youth Miguel Terceros and Leonardo Zabala, who are in the under-15 and under-20 teams of Santos from Brazil.

The base of the call is Bolívar de La Paz, which will contribute with eight players, followed by The Strongest and Always Ready, each with three, while Blooming, Real Tomayapo, Atlético Palmaflor and Wilstermann will be represented by a footballer each.

The experienced Juan Carlos ‘Conejo’ Arce was also summoned, whose continuity in Always Ready is in doubt.

The Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) reported that the concentration will begin this Saturday in La Paz, with a first challenge of a friendly match with Trinidad and Tobago scheduled for January 21 in Sucre, the Bolivian constitutional capital.

Bolivia will visit Venezuela on January 28 on the fifteenth day of the qualifiers and will receive Chile in La Paz on February 1 for the sixteenth date.

Although it is eighth in the South American classification, the Verde de Farías does not lose hope of achieving a quota for Qatar 2022 or at least aspiring to the playoffs.

The Bolivian team has 15 points, two less than Colombia and Peru and one less than Chile and Uruguay.

The 26 players chosen by Farías are:

Goalkeepers: Carlos Lampe (Vélez Sarsfield-ARG), Jhohan Gutiérrez (Atlético Palmaflor) and Rubén Cordano (Bolívar).
