Mexican prospect Rosman Verdugo signs with San Diego Padres

At 16 years old, the Mexican Rosman Verdugo reached an agreement with the San Diego Padres San Diego for the 2022 season of Major League Baseball.

The shortstop from Ensenada, Baja California, was fired by the Red Devils of Mexico, the team where he grew up and from which he was considered the best Aztec prospect.

His contract with the ninth Californian has an approximate value of 700 thousand dollars. “I feel very happy to be part of a Major League team, I want to thank everyone at Diablos Rojos, Don Alfredo (Harp Helú), they believed in me, they followed me, I also thank the people of the Padres”, expressed the player at a press conference.

The scarlet box fired one of its best youth players in recent months, while the official account of the Padres on Twitter welcomed the Mexican player.

Rosman arrived at the Alfredo Harp Helú Academy in 2018 and immediately showed his talent, in 2021 he debuted in the Mexican Baseball League and was in a couple of games. In the Winter League he detonated with a batting average of .358.

Rosman Verdugo will take a flight this Sunday to camp in the Dominican Republic. As the season approaches in the branches, it will be decided if he stays there or moves to some Minor team in Arizona.
