After being without a win in their last two Serie A matches, Lazio will be aiming for the full points when they face Salernitana at the Arechi stadium on Sunday (16/1).
Lazio are currently still outside the European zone with only sitting in eighth place after picking up 32 points from 21 matches, while Salernitana are still stranded at the bottom of the table after securing just 11 points from 19 matches.
Match Preview
After their two 2022 fixtures against Udinese and Venezia were suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Salernitana finally returned to the pitch for the first time on 10 January to claim their third win in 19 games this season over Hellas Verona.
Milan Duric put Salernitana ahead in the first half with a penalty before Darko Lazovic equalized an hour after the match. But Grigoris Kastanos finally scored the winner for Stefano Colantuono’s side, although they are still unable to move from bottom to bottom after securing only 11 points from their 19 games so far.
Lazio, meanwhile, will come into this clash with a 2-1 loss to reigning champions Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza in their opener of the 2022 new year as goals from Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar were only matched by a goal by ciro Immobile.
Lazio will come into this match too with a poor away record having only won three of their 11 away games so far, although they are hopeful that they can improve on that record away to bottom side Salernitana.
Meeting Record
There have been eight meetings between the two teams in all competitions, with Lazio picking up five wins and Salernitana winning three. Lazio secured a 3-0 win in the first meeting of the season.
