Kevin Durant has been out of the Brooklyn Nets for at least a month with a torn ligament

Shock to the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant will be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury.

The 33-year-old was injured in the game against the New Orleans Pelicans in the second quarter, as teammate Bruce Brown fell into the superstar’s knee. As a result, Durant left the court in pain and never returned.

The Nets did an MRI on Sunday, which found a tear in the inner ligament, the team announced in a press release. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) but there is optimism within the franchise that Durant will “only” be missing between four and six weeks. Thus, KD could potentially return after the All-Star Game, which will be held in Cleveland on February 20 this season.

It’s another setback for Durant after missing his first season in Brooklyn completely with a torn Achilles tendon and missing 23 games last year with a hamstring problem. However, when the forward is fit, the two-time Finals MVP remains one of the best players in the NBA.

Kevin Durant is expanding the Brooklyn Nets hospital

This season, Durant has scored more points than any other player with an average of 29.3 points and has been one of the big favorites for the MVP award together with Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors. In addition, the 2007 No. 2 pick has 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists with shooting percentages of 52 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from downtown.

Durant’s absence has increased the Nets’ injury concerns. In addition to Durant, starting center Nic Claxton, backup big LaMarcus Aldridge and noble shooter Joe Harris are also currently missing. Additionally, due to his lack of vaccination, Kyrie Irving is still only allowed to play in games outside of New York City.

After all, the Nets are still in a comfortable situation. With a 27-15 record, Brooklyn is second in the Eastern Conference, just half a game behind leaders Chicago (27.14). However, the Nets have plenty of pursuers in Miami (27-16), Milwaukee (27-18), Philadelphia (25-17) and Cleveland (26-18) who are a maximum of 2 games behind the Big Apple franchise.
