The sad story of ‘Doctor’ García and his frustrated photo with Tom Brady

In June 2014, the Mexican National Team played against Portugal prior to the World Cup in Brazil and said match was played at Gillete Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, which represented an opportunity for El Tri to coincide with the greatest of all time in the NFL: Tom Brady.

The quarterback who has won more Super Bowls than any other player, took a photo with Miguel Herrera, then a strategist for Mexico, which you can still see in memes. Well that same fate would have wanted Luis García, the ‘Doctor’, according to Christian Martinoli’s account.

The encounter between Doctor Garcia and the Patriots

It turns out that the most popular commentators on TV Azteca were making links prior to the game, just as the Pats’ training session ended. “The stadium has a split-level field, which is where the Patriots train and coincidentally finished the training of this team”, indicated in episode seven of the Excess of Smoke podcast, on Amazon Music.

Suddenly, in these internal corridors that are gigantic and where trucks pass and everything, all the American football players came back, and the security began to tell us ‘to the corner, against the wall’; we could not step on the rubber in the central part and the Doctor began to get nervous and said: “Oh, don’t suck, don’t suck, here it comes, here it comes… here comes Brady!”

The encounter with Brady

‘Doctor’ Garcia has declared himself a fan of the NFL, especially his fans are for the Ravens, so he knew the importance of being by Brady’s side, so his intention was to take a photo with the then star of the Patriots.

“I was excited and Brady you saw him from a distance, you know, a spectacular blond guy, clear eyes, sucked, 1.90, the case in the right hand… no, no, no, it seemed like an impressive trophy. ‘I want a Big Ass photo!’”.

So the Deus asked the Doctor to give him the camera ready to take the picture as soon as Tom Brady got a little closer, but “When he wanted to get close to Brady He got three linebackers and Brady just fluffed him and unfortunately the ‘Doctor’ could not… but I had never seen the ‘Doctor’ lose his pants in such a way”.

Tom Brady left the Patriots in 2019 and continued his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with whom he won the 2021 Super Bowl and since then has seven titles to his name… and counting.
