From January 21 to 23, the best international archers meet at Parnassus to try to win the Nîmes stage of the world indoor circuit (free entry).

The 2021 edition having been damaged by the pandemic, this new edition, still organized by the Arc Club of Nîmes, looks more beautiful than ever. More than 35 countries represented for a thousand participants, the “Nîmes archery tournament” is today the biggest archery tournament organized in Europe.

For three days, nearly 4,000 spectators will attend tournaments divided into four categories. On Friday and Saturday, the Men’s/Women’s/Olympic Bow/Compound Bow categories will compete in qualifying tournaments to be among the 32 selected for the Sunday afternoon final. On Sunday morning, it’s the turn of the under-21s to try their luck to be in the top 16 this time. Enthusiasts of the discipline or the curious can also go to the partner village of the Parc Expo to discover the latest innovations in terms of equipment and sports equipment. The Estanque bowling alley will receive the archers for their training. A long weekend, rich in emotion and suspense, which promises a great final on Sunday afternoon and which will see the best in each category reach the final stage in Las Vegas, on February 5th. Enough to motivate the world elite of this Olympic sport practiced for millennia and of which the French Federation can be proud to count nearly 1,640 clubs today.

High level for Club Nîmes The Arc Club de Nîmes, founded in 1985, plays at the highest national level, with a women’s and men’s team in Division 1. The athletes of Nîmes wear the club’s colors high on the international podiums since thirty years, many of them have been selected for the French team for the European and world championships or for the Olympic Games.

Jean-Charles Valladont from Nîmes also distinguished himself by winning a silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. For Paris 2024, six archers are in preparation: Jean-Charles Valladont, Pierre Plihon, Mélanie Gaubil, Iban Bariteaud , Anaëlle Florent and Erika Jangäs, obviously making the pride of Olivier Grillat, general manager of the Arc Club of Nîmes: “With Philippe Michelutti, president of the Club, we are very happy to see our archers shine at the highest level. It is also a great visibility for the city of Nîmes which hosts a stage of the indoor world circuit every year, broadcast live on the sports channels. »
