Kevin Knox had had a fairly promising rookie season, despite very big shortcomings in terms of IQ and defense, but he was never able to confirm. All the coaches who have succeeded have not really given him a chance, just like Tom Thibodeau. He has only played 13 games for an average of 8.5 seconds this season. His father, Kevin Knox Sr., former NFL player, does not understand why the son did not have his chance.
“That’s a great question for Tom Thibodeau,” Knox Sr. told the Ny Post when asked why he thought Knox didn’t have his chance. “I think he’s turned a corner. Everyone could see the progression of a young Kevin Knox to the point where he wasn’t really a weak link in defense anymore. I think Tom Thibodeau did a great job helping Kevin become a better defensive player. He’s always had that shot and so the fact that he wasn’t playing it has become an enigma throughout the organization. » significant. »
This trade to the Hawks, who should not exchange it, is happily welcomed by the Knox camp.
“This coach obviously felt like he could win games without Kevin Knox,” says Kevin Knox Sr. play significant minutes. Kevin is enthusiastic. He sees it as an opportunity, to play in a faster offense and with a playmaker like Trae Young who is an All-Star. He enters and exits balloons for wide open shots. Kevin is very excited to be coached by Nate [McMillan], a coach who has proven himself and who has played in the league. Since he’s been in the NBA, Kevin has had three coaches, two presidents, new coaching staff. Nate sees this as a breath of fresh air for Kevin. We are looking for a different opportunity to play. I hope we have found a coach who believes in us and in the qualities of Kevin Knox. It is a relief.
Not sure, though, that he’ll get big playing time quickly when there’s competition in Atlanta on the wing.
