Revel. Sport adapted to Judo club

Since 2021, the Judo club in Revel has created an “adapted sport” section, in partnership with the L’Orival center in Sorèze. About ten adult residents of this center practice judo every Thursday under the direction of professors Anthony Carbonell and Sophie Carmona, with the help of two educators from L’Orival. These are fun but also technical and physical sessions, which take place in a very dynamic and warm atmosphere, with great motivation on the part of the participants. The key word for these sessions is adaptation. Teachers must take into account fears such as contact or falls, as well as the very heterogeneous physical level.

But it is clear, after a year of practice, that technical progress is there and that fears are completely dissipated. This project already existed twenty years ago, since the former teacher, Daniel Nardi (who died in 2005) was also an educator at Orival and had his group practice judo. As a result, it was therefore easy to recreate the links that had already been established in the past.

“Judo, while remaining a combat sport, also becomes here a means of inclusion. its meaning”, specifies Pierre Ortala, the president of the Judo club in Revel. The continuity of this project can be competition for some practitioners who wish since judo is part of adapted sport competitions. It can also go, this is planned soon, towards more important times of inclusion with the participation in the training of the adult groups of the judo club on Tuesday or Friday evening.
