Hamburg Towers: Zach Brown is getting better and better

It’s the maximum penalty for any basketball player. Although Zach Brown was fit, he was not allowed to stand on the floor for a second when the Hamburg Towers broke against Ulm (74:78) in December. Many players would find it difficult to remain positive in such a situation – but not Brown.

“I do everything I can for this team. It doesn’t matter whether I play ten seconds or 30 minutes,” says the forward. And in fact, his playing time in the last few games has been in the latter spheres. After injuries to namesake Jaylon Brown (hip) and Justus Hollatz (ankle), the 26-year-old seizes his chance.

In the last three BBL games, Brown tore off 88 of a possible 120 minutes. In addition, he was able to record a double-digit number of points (12 and 14 points) in the last two games. The new signing from Hungarian club SZTE-Szedeak is getting better and better.

Brown owes this not only to his positive attitude, but also to his hard work. “Zach is always the first one in the hall,” praises teammate Max DiLeo, adding: “If he gets his chance in the game, he’s always ready.” That’s why, according to DiLeo, he’s also a “really great teammate.”

With Jaylon Brown likely to be out for a few more weeks, Zach can continue to prove himself in the upcoming games. Despite the positive trend, the defensive specialist knows that he still has to improve offensively. In the league, the US boy hits only 23 percent of his three-point attempts, which he throws almost exclusively. One can be sure: Brown will work on this every day in the hall – probably as the first.
