The party entitled “Andara derby” has captured the public’s attention. RANS PIK is a club owned by Raffi Ahmad, while the President of the West Bandits Club is a fellow artist, namely Gading Marten. Both of them were also present in the arena to watch each team’s first match at IBL 2022.
West Bandits looked strong, especially in the first half. Widyanta Putra Teja and colleagues played very effectively, especially in terms of three-point shots. West Bandits scored 13 points from 34 tries (38 percent). That is, almost half the points scored by the West Bandits from long-range shots.
This has been seen from the very beginning. Two consecutive three-pointers from Widi and Michael Ayodele Kolawole at the beginning of the first quarter immediately brought the West Bandits ahead 6-0. Patrick Nikolas added West Bandits to 8-0 when the game was not even three minutes. It surprised the RANS PIK players with the West Bandits game scheme. However, RANS PIK tried to calm down and set the tempo to match the West Bandits game.
In the second quarter, the West Bandits went crazy. Kolawole scored four straight points with two consecutive slam dunks, to give the West Bandits a 35-16 lead over RANS. The West Bandits were 20 points clear (41-21) at halftime.
Continuing to press, in the third quarter, the West Bandits players managed to score four triple points. Three of them were printed in a row. Two from Rio Disi, then three points from Patrick Nikolas and D’Monta Harris closed the third quarter with a 63-40 advantage. West Bandits can maintain this advantage until the game is over.
Dmonta Quoshawn Harris scored 18 points for the West Bandits, followed by Rio Disi (12 points) and Patrick Nikolas (11). Of the 12 players in the West Bandits roster this time, only three players did not score points. The rest, all contributed to the West Bandits victory. The players on the bench contributed a total of 43 points in the match. While in the RANS camp, Jalil Abdul Bassit managed to contribute 25 points for his team.
“We performed well today to win. However, we still have a record to improve in the next game. Rebound, especially offensive rebounds, we still often concede.” he said.
On the other hand, Koko Heru head coach RANS PIK said this defeat should be an important lesson for his team. “We already knew and anticipated that the West Bandits would attack strongly from three points. Unfortunately, in defensive practice, the players were less ready to guard and finally they could shoot more freely,” he explained.
In the next match, RANS PIK itself will face Pacific Caesar. Meanwhile, West Bandist will fight Prawira Bandung on Monday, January 17, 2022 the day after tomorrow. (hth)
