Both the PlayStation 5 as well as the Xbox Series X|S are basically well positioned in terms of backward compatibility. You can play almost all games from the previous generation (PS4 or Xbox One) on both consoles without any problems. However, Microsoft is currently ahead of the game, because many titles from the era of the first Xbox or Xbox 360 are also compatible. But even at Sony there may be signs of a development at the moment.
Several users from Great Britain were able to spot titles like “Dead or Alive 5” or “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands” in the PlayStation Store, which originally appeared for the PS3 and were also marked as PS3 games. Actually, such games then have no price in the PS Store and only forward to PlayStation Now. In this case, however, prices were given. However, the games cannot currently be bought.
Uhhh. Not to panic anyone, but a PS3 game shouldn’t have a price when viewed on a PS5.

This could possibly also be related to the rumor that Sony could discontinue the PlayStation Now brand in order to integrate cloud gaming into PlayStation Plus as part of a new tariff option. However, everything may turn out to be hot air and this is just an error.

A while ago, however, patents filed by PS5 system architect Mark Cerny emerged that described methods that could potentially enable backwards compatibility to the PS3. At least it remains very exciting at the moment.
