One of the players who marked an era in Colombian football was Néider Morantes, the talented ’10’ who wore the shirts of Atlético Nacional, Independiente Medellín, Envigado Fútbol Club, among others, spoke about the scarcity in his hooking position and the benefit that will bring back to South American football men like Giovanni Moreno to Atlético Nacional and Juan Fernando Quintero to River Plate from Argentina.
Regarding his position on the field, so important for the essence of Colombian football, Néider commented that “it is a pity that the class of players like this is being lost, because this country has them and has continued to have them. Today, soccer has become a business, where running, scoring, players are big, 1.80, 1.90 and strong. Above talent, but we have to go back to those roots, because Colombian soccer has a lot of talent and we are seeing it in this kind of tournaments like Baby Soccer, that’s why we have to support them a lot”.
As for what he expects from the Antioquia teams in this League that will begin next week, Morantes indicated that “we hope that the Antioquia teams give us joy, both Envigado (Águilas Doradas) Rionegro, and Nacional, Medellín, we hope that one of those remain champion to celebrate again here in Antioquia”.
The ’10’ spoke about the return of Giovanni Moreno to Atlético Nacional, after a decade in Chinese football. “The arrival of Giovanni Moreno gives more prestige to Colombian soccer and a player like him who has great talent and will surely make us have fun and enjoy a lot. I spent a lot of time with him in Envigado, he is a great person, a great professional and there are no more talents like him”.
Finally, about Juan Fernando Quintero, Néider is excited to learn that he can become the driver of the ‘tricolor’ and return to those moments of sporting glory with River Plate. “JuanFer (Quintero) is a star, let’s hope he lasts for many years and gives us much more joy than he has given us. Hopefully he can lead the Colombian National Team, he has all the talent, he has personality and he plays very well”.
