INDOSPORT.COM – Genoa allegedly sacked Andriy Shevchenko not because of bad results, but because of player transfer problems.

Shocking news was heard from the realm of Italian football on Saturday (15/01/22) night WIB. Italian Serie A bottom club, Genoa, has officially sacked their coach, Andriy Shevchenko.

This is very surprising because the former coach of the Ukrainian national team only arrived on November 7, 2021. Andriy Shevchenko has only accompanied Genoa in 11 matches.

When Andriy Shevchenko arrived, Genoa was already slumped in the relegation zone. The arrival of the AC Milan legend is expected to improve the fate of the club previously led by Davide Ballardini.

However, Genoa’s condition did not show any significant changes. From 11 games with Shevchenko, they only picked three points once.

Meanwhile, 3 matches ended in a draw and seven defeats. Most recently, Genoa was beaten by AC Milan 1-3 in the Coppa Italia.

Actually, this result is not surprising because the squad that Genoa has does not have the quality to compete in the Italian League.

In addition, it is too early to fire a figure as big as Andriy Shevchenko who in fact successfully led the Ukrainian national team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
