Belt tests in judo require intensive and regular preparation in the individual training areas from the participating athletes. This is not so easy to do in a contact sport during Corona times with changing hygiene requirements. That’s why the kyu exam at the judo club – the first after a long break – was something special for everyone involved.
Gerd Brückner and Heinz-Ulrich Schmidt acted as examiners for the Bavarian Judo Association. As usual, they opened the program with the various requirements of the fall technique. After the basic forms of throwing and floor techniques, the sometimes demanding application tasks from standing and floor were required, which have to be shown from realistic situations. After the Randori (practice fight) part of the test with changing partners, Dominik Baltz held the certificate for the 7th Kyu (yellow) in his hands. Julian Thurner, Manuel Meier, Bella Hartmann and Felix Fischer secured the 8th Kyu and thus the right to participate in tournaments.
