Athletes must present vaccination to enter France

The French authorities will require vaccination against the coronavirus from foreign athletes who are going to compete in the Six Nations rugby tournament.

After knowing the expulsion of the Serbian tennis player, Noval Djokovic, the French government specified that this regulation will not only be applied to amateur athletes, French or foreign professionals who are in the European nation, but also to athletes who travel to the country to compete.

The vaccination certificate applies to everyone, to volunteers, to high-level athletes, including those arriving from abroad, until further notice“, the Sports Ministry told AFP on Monday.

This position clarifies the statements issued by the Sports Minister, Roxana Maracineanu, who last week hinted that in theory the health bubble for sporting events allowed athletes who are not vaccinated, such as Djokovic, to receive them.

Upcoming international events are a judo tournament (the Grand Slam, February 5-6), the Six Nations rugby tournament (February 5-March 19) with the Roland Garros tennis tournament on the horizon.
