3 reasons why the Packers are NOT going to make it to Super Bowl LVI

One of the best teams of the season, the Green Bay Packers, offer little reason not to see them in Super Bowl LVI. But he who seeks finds, and yes, there are at least three reasons why the Packers may fall short heading into the Super Bowl. And in fact, recent history has been like this: a great team in the regular season that fails to win in the moments that matter most.

They say that the third time is the charm, and in this case it would be for the duo Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers but… do we believe them?

These are the three reasons the Packers are NOT going to make it to Super Bowl LVI.

Close matchups against playoff teams

This team had only four losses in the season. In week 1 against the Saints in what I would call a Any Given Sunday, two more against divisional rivals –although against the Lions they took Rodgers out so as not to risk him– and finally the one they suffered against the Chiefs, where their star quarterback did not play. But there are victories that raise doubts.

Against the 49ers they had a close duel that in the end Rodgers defined with his genius, the Bengals missed a field goal to defeat them in overtime, the Cardinals gave them battle and ended up with a difference of three points (all of them playoff teams). In addition, the victories against the Ravens and Browns at the end of the season left more doubts than certainties.

These Packers are not the team that runs over the opponent, even though they have the ability to do so, and that is something that could cost in the playoffs, especially for the next point.

Mason Crosby is not coming off his best year

The veteran kicker for the Packers is coming off one of his worst seasons in his career when it comes to field goal effectiveness. If a game becomes close, just as playoffs from the Divisional Round often are, you need a reliable specialist to back you up to win. This year, Crosby connected on 73.5% of his field goal attempts, the second-worst mark in his career.

Among NFL kickers in 2021, he ranked 31st, which should certainly be of concern. At 37 years of age, Crosby begins to be the weakest link in a team that is dominant on paper, but does not show it on the scoreboard at times. As accustomed as the Packers are to playing in the cold, kicking a ball that looks like a rock in those conditions will be a bigger challenge.

Ghosts of the Conference Final

In two consecutive years, since Matt LaFleur arrived, they have reached the Conference Final, the same times they have been defeated by the 49ers … and last year also at Lambeau Field. The pressure on Green Bay’s shoulders with this hurdle is not something minor, especially for Aaron Rodgers, who is surely thinking at all times about the wasted opportunities to win another ring.

Now that we know that the rival in the Divisional Round will be the team led by Kyle Shanahan who knows Matt LaFleur very well, advancing from the round, even with the first seed in the NFC, does not sound like an easy challenge. Can you imagine facing the ghosts of the past, San Francisco and Tampa Bay, in back-to-back playoff matchups? Both teams were the ones that left them on the brink of the Super Bowl the previous two seasons, and it’s not unreasonable for this to happen. It would be a great challenge that immediately raises doubts.

These were the three reasons why the Packers are not going to make it to Super Bowl LVI. Which are yours? Do you think otherwise? We read you in the comments below this article and on our social networks.
