Gießen and veteran Bryant will go their separate ways in the future. The club and the players have agreed on an immediate termination of the contract, as the Hessians announced on Thursday. The 2.11 meter tall center will play for league rivals Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels in the future and is scheduled to play there on Friday evening. The 34-year-old Bryant has played for the Giessen 46ers since 2017 with one short break and had previously received the league’s Most Valuable Player award in two Bundesliga seasons (2011/12 and 2012/13).
“Unfortunately, it is sometimes the case that what is planned and hoped for does not occur and cannot be implemented. Both John and we have recognized that the current situation is not satisfactory for both sides and we have therefore mutually decided on a termination agreement,” said Gießens Managing Director and sports director Sebastian Schmidt. “The low deployment times in Gießen were no longer satisfactory for me personally,” commented Bryant. He is now looking forward to his new team and a new task.
On the MBC website, Bryant is quoted as follows: “The short playing times in Gießen were no longer satisfactory for me personally. When MBC was looking for a new player after Johannes Richter was out, I didn’t have to hesitate for long. “After a training session and a night in Weißenfels, I immediately set off with the team for the away game in Hamburg. I’m looking forward to my new team and my new job with the Wolves. I’ll bring my strengths to bear, so that we’re here in this get the maximum out of the season.”
