A group of 25 traveled to the training camp in Belek, even without Rot-Weiss Essen. You’ve watched the competition before.
Not only the players and staff from Red and white food happy. The current leader of the Regional League West originally wanted to move into his training camp from Monday, January 10th to Sunday, January 16th, but had to cancel his trip due to several corona cases in the team and staff. 25 fans had already booked a trip and were surprised by the cancellation of Bergeborbeck on the evening before departure.
One of this group is RWE fan Michael Neugebauer. “We weren’t thrilled,” he admits. “We booked the training camp for Rot-Weiss and then flew down without them. We found out about the decision on Sunday afternoon. Our flight left at 7:40 am Monday morning. You only had the choice of giving up the money or just driving. Then we went on vacation there. That was still better than staying at home.”
And so, in the end, 25 fans took the opportunity to hold up the RWE flag on the Bosporus. “We played soccer at the beach one day. But the weather wasn’t that great the first two days, it was almost just blazing.” Otherwise, the RWE tour group, which also includes the RWE goalkeeper legend Frank Kurth belonged, visited Belek and Antalya. They also watched the Wuppertaler SV game against FC Zurich and stopped by FK Slovan Liberec. “We made the best of it. It was nice and fun,” says Neugebauer.
And there is also a compensation from the association: the travel group was headed by the chairman Marcus Uhlig invited to the top game next Sunday against Wuppertaler SV. If Corona allows, there should also be a brunch. There is also a small reimbursement for travel expenses. Neugebauer: “We are very grateful to him for that, that is not to be taken for granted.”
