Their return to the Olympic world will have been short-lived – additional sports for the Tokyo 2020 Games, they were not selected for Paris 2024 -, but baseball and softball are preparing for a year 2022 rich in international events. The world body in charge of the two disciplines, the WBSC (World Baseball Softball Confederation), has unveiled the main dates for the calendar of the season, approved this week by its executive committee. It has four world baseball meetings, as many in softball, plus the first edition of the Baseball World Cup5. Softball is notably on the program of the World Games, scheduled for July 7 to 17 in Birmingham, United States. In baseball, the season will be dominated by the organization of a World Cup for each of the four age categories below the seniors: under 12, 15, 18 and 23 years old.
