Manchester United‘s Anthony Martial objected to manager Ralf Rangnick‘s accusation that he had rejected a nomination for Saturday’s English League match with Aston Villa. The 26-year-old striker said he would never do such a thing to the club.
“He didn’t want to be on the team, otherwise he would be here with us,” said the German manager after the match, in which United, weakened by a number of absences due to coronavirus, injuries and participation in the African championship, wasted a two-goal lead and drew 2: 2.
However, Martial objected to Rangnick’s claim. “I’ve been here for seven years and I’ve never been disrespectful to the club and its fans. And I never will. And I would never refuse to join Manchester United either.” wrote on instagram.
The French forward has been with United since 2015 and has a two-year contract with the club. He has played 268 games for the Manchester team and scored 79 goals, but has only been in the Premier League twice this season.
Martial joined United in early December, and his agent said the former Lyon and Monaco player wanted to leave Old Trafford somewhere in the January transfer season to play regularly.
