Dak Prescott is being criticized for things other than the last game the Cowboys were eliminated from the postseason after losing to the San Francisco 49ers. Prescott is taking the dead in the wake of his comments after the game when the quarterback seemed to approve of fans throwing objects at umpires.
“Dak Prescott, after commenting on bottles that may have hit some Cowboys players, when told that the beer bottles thrown by fans were aimed at the referees and not the players: ‘Oh well, a round of applause for them then,’” Mike Leslie of WFAA tweeted on January 16.
Leslie added that Prescott “doubled down” on his comments after the news conference.
“Dak Prescott had the opportunity to retract his comment in the last question of the press conference,” Leslie remarked in a statement. series of tweets. “It did not. In fact, in various ways, he doubled down on his comments.”
Prescott on refereeing: ‘The fans felt the same way we did.’
Prescott clearly disagreed with the way the party was run. The Cowboys quarterback joked that “the umpires flew out of the game.”
“The fans felt the same way we did,” Prescott said through Michael Gehlken de Dallas Morning News. “I guess that’s why the referees flew out of the game. I think everyone is upset with the way things turned out.”
Prescott’s comments “don’t sit well with him,” one analyst said.
The Cowboys quarterback is coming under fire for his comments against referees. Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher will want him to retract them.
“I think I know @Dak well,” Fisher said on Twitter after Prescott’s postgame press conference. “He is a conscientious leader. I think he’ll want to retract his comments about fans throwing bottles at referees.”
Throughout the season, Cowboys players have gotten into the habit of criticizing umpires, especially after losses. RJ Ochoa de Blogging the Boys criticized this new custom of the players and said that Prescott’s comments ‘do not suit him’.
“Dak Prescott has been Dallas’ quarterback for five years,” Ochoa tweeted on Jan. 16. “He has always said the right things when he was in front of a microphone or a camera. But this look does not suit her. It’s horrible what he said. Accept defeat.”
McCarthy: ‘They were going to add more time to the clock’
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy noted that an official told him they were adding time to the clock for another play. Things clearly turned out differently, and McCarthy admitted he was “shocked” that he didn’t make time for another play after Prescott’s run.
“I’ve never seen anything like yesterday, the umpire-quarterback clash,” McCarthy remarked at the Jan. 16 postgame news conference. “We were trying to get on the 30-yard line to put the last play together. The mechanics were perfect on our end.”
“What the officials told me was that they were looking at it, that they were going to add time to the game. Immediately afterwards, they were leaving the field of play. Those are the only facts I have for you… yes, he [el árbitro] he thought they were going to add time to the clock.”
