The Spanish club announced it on Tuesday. Gento is the only player in history to have won six Champions Cups, between 1956 and 1966. Left winger, “Paco” Gento was trained in Santander. He joined Real in 1953 and stayed there until 1971.
In addition to the six victories in the Champions Cup, five in a row from 1956 to 1960 and 1966, his record also includes twelve Spanish championships, two national cups and an Intercontinental Cup. He scored 182 goals in 600 games for Real. Gento has worn the Spain jersey 43 times, scoring 5 goals.
Since 2016, he was the honorary president of Real Madrid. In a press release, the Madrid club stresses that “the figure of Paco Gento faithfully represents all the values of Real Madrid. He has been and will continue to be a reference for ‘Madridistas’ and for the world of sport. ‘Madridistas’ and all football fans will always remember him as one of their great legends.”
