The Latvian national team started the first game against the latter with three points in the first, five stolen in the third and another stolen in the fourth end, taking the lead 9: 0. The Hong Kong team used their last shot right only in the fifth end, scoring two points and taking a 2: 9 break in the break.

Nothing cardinally changed after the break. The Latvian players managed to increase their lead to 10 points (12: 2), which was reduced to +8 (4:12) by winning two points in the seventh end. However, the superiority of the Latvian national team was obvious, with the opponents deciding to finish the game after seven ends.

On the Monday before the games, the Czech women’s team tested positive for Covid-19. As the representatives of the Czech association decided not to send substitutes to Finland, the Czech national team will not go on the ice in this tournament, which means that the Latvian and other teams are automatically winning against the Czech Republic.

All teams will play in the round first. To continue the fight for two tickets to the World Championships, which will take place from March 19 to 27 in Princeton, Canada, it is necessary to enter the top three. The first ticket will be awarded to the winners of the 1st and 2nd place games, while the second ticket will be awarded between the losers of this game and the 3rd place winners.

Composition of the Latvian women’s team: Evelīna Barone (skips), Rēzija Ieviņa, Veronika Apse, Ērika Patrīcija Bitmete, Letīcija Ieviņa, coach Iveta Staša-Šaršūne.
