The now coach was denounced by two 18-year-old players for events that allegedly occurred at the former international’s home in December 2020
The Almería Prosecutor’s Office has requested sentences totaling four years in prison for the former player of the Almería Volleyball Club (Unicaja Voley) and the Spanish team Cosme Prenafeta, for alleged sexual abuse of two 18-year-olds whom he trained in a team of the Andalusian city.
The provisional qualification brief asks for two years in prison for each of the alleged crimes that are attributed to Prenafeta and that a distance of not less than 200 meters from each of them be imposed for a period of three years.
The Public Ministry files an accusation against Prenafeta after the investigating judge found in the evidence carried out during the investigation, including the forensic report issued by the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) and the “declaration” in court of the “investigated himself” signs of sexual abuse.
In the order of transformation of preliminary proceedings to abbreviated procedure, and in the prosecutor’s brief, it is indicated that the events, which will be prosecuted in a Criminal Court, occurred at the home of the accused in Almería on the afternoon of 28 December 2020.
They record that the two young complainants went, along with the rest of the team of which they were part, to a meal at their coach’s house and that, “after the other teammates left”, he would have asked them to stay “a while longer”, what they agreed to.
From that moment on, according to the investigating judge and prosecutor, the three would have “drank alcoholic beverages” and Cosme Prenafeta would have proposed “playing question games of a sexual nature.”
The Public Ministry highlights that, “without the consent” of the two young women, the defendant allegedly “kissed” them “on the mouth and neck several times” and had also come to “touch the buttocks” of one of them.
He adds that the young player to whom he touched suffers, according to the forensic medical report, an “anxious depressive symptomatology” derived from these events, which qualifies as two crimes of sexual abuse of article 181.1 of the Penal Code.
