The Aranalde sports center will host the national tournament next weekend Badminton Senior Master, scoring for the national ranking, with more than 100 players from different autonomous communities. In this way, Álava will become the epicenter of national badminton.
The tournament will take place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 January and will have among its participants different champions from Spain and participants in the recent Huelva World Championship 2021, which also includes 20 local athletes.
The age range of the participants from 30 to over 65 years. Similarly, the participation of athletes from more than 45 clubs from all over the country is noteworthy.
“We must recognize the work that the Alava Badminton Federation, especially in these last two years, trying to make the most of the possibilities that the pandemic left us. Vitoria-Gasteiz has become, thanks to this work, a city of reference for badminton at the state level”, underlined the director of Sport and Health of the city hall of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Eukeni Martínez, who participated in the presentation of the event together with the regional director of Sport, Ana Rosa Lopez de Uralde, and the president of the Alava Badminton Federation, Angel Ruiz.
The day on Saturday will begin at 9 am and as usual there will be matches for women’s and men’s singles, women’s and men’s doubles and mixed doubles, all of them to the best of three sets of 21 points. Sunday is reserved for the semifinals and finals.
