It is not for nothing that Union has come to Seraing for the second time in three days: the troops of coach Felice Mazzu even extended their 0-2 lead from Saturday to 0-4 after penalty goals from Teuma and Undav. Union thus keeps its gap of seven points on first pursuer Club Brugge. Seraing remains fully involved in the relegation battle.

After Union footballed to a 0-2 lead on Saturday after goals from Undav and Vanzeir, the Brussels team had to defend that lead with ten men on Tuesday evening (Bager took red on Saturday evening) after fog caused the game to be stopped on Saturday.

Felice Mazzu therefore had plenty of time to prepare a tactical plan: it is highly unusual for a team to have several days to prepare a game with ten men. But Union trained tactically on the situation, and Mazzu brought a 5-3-1 between the lines. At Seraing, of course, 11 names were allowed to be drawn: Maziz and Mikautadze, among others, had to ensure a turnaround.

Quickly score the connecting goal to grab Union by the throat: that was undoubtedly Seraing’s plan to get at least one point out of the fire against the competition leader. And that paid off almost after three minutes: first Moris saved a good shot by Maziz, then a brilliant tackle by Nieuwkoop was needed to prevent Marius from scoring. Union seemed to be about to declare itself, because the inhabitants of Brussels provided a double belt in the back.

But the good intentions of the home team quickly went into the trash when Lapoussin went over the leg of Mansoni in the box. For a moment, Galjé seemed to maintain the tension by stopping Teuma’s penalty, but the Liège goalkeeper jumped off his line too early. Teuma therefore got a second chance and did not fail: 0-3 on the hour, match played.

Seraing did claim possession afterwards and put some centers in front of goal, but Moris hardly ran into problems – except for a dangerous attempt by Marius. Undav even put the icing on the cake ten minutes before the end, again from the dot. This makes the German again only top scorer with 20 pieces.

Thanks to the 0-4 victory, Union is doing a good thing: it now has another 7 points ahead of Club Brugge, and 15 points ahead of the number five in the standings. Seraing already has to make up for four points at Zulte Waregem to avoid getting into trouble this season.
