Marcel Meijer (MLTV’90), Lammert Nanninga (De Wielepet) and Koos Batist (Velo Badminton) are the three nominees for the title of Sports Volunteer of the Year in the municipality of Westland.
That prize will be awarded on Thursday evening 27 January during the Westlandse Sportgala in theater De Naald. You can vote for the three contenders from now on wos.nl/sportvrijwilliger.
Meijer has been a volunteer at tennis and padel association MLTV’90 in Monster for more than twenty years. In the past, he was responsible for the catering on the complex and now takes care of maintenance. This concerns painting work, but also keeping the jobs clean.
Nanninga is involved in several sports as a volunteer in sports hall De Wielepet in Monster. He is a referee for futsal and volleyball. In addition, he cleans the hall, lends a hand in the catering industry and takes care of the deposits of the environment during events such as the Monster half marathon. Nanninga is involved in almost everything that happens in and around De Wielepet.
Batist has been a member of Velo Badminton since the 1970s and has also been doing voluntary work for this association in Wateringen for some time now. He still does the membership administration, for example, although he is now transferring it. He is also a competition manager. Batist was previously responsible for the club magazine for many years.
