Rotterdammers won and lost in 1965 against ‘De Koninklijke’

AMSTERDAM – Real Madrid mourn the passing of Francisco Gento at the age of 88. The attacker was one of the key players of Real Madrid, which totally dominated European football in the 1950s. He was the only player ever to win the European Cup I six times (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1966). In the year of his last European Cup win, Gento and Real Madrid crossed swords with Feyenoord in the first round of the tournament. In Rotterdam it became 2-1 for the Rotterdam team, who were beaten (5-0) in Bernabeu. Guus Haak (84), Piet Romeijn (82) and Frans Bouwmeester (88) reminisce about the legendary Paco Gento.
