the ottfielder Roque Salinas is already the first Mariachis player to sign with a Major League Baseball organization, and it is that this Tuesday in Mexico City he signed with the Blue Jays organization as part of its branches to seek a place with the first team.

“I am very happy and proud, thanks to the Mariachis team for giving me the opportunity to debut in the Mexican League and for this opportunity that they are giving me for letting me go to a Major League team,” said the Tamaulipas.

Salinas made his professional debut last year with Guadalajara in the Mexican Baseball League, where he played 44 games, batting .400, hitting two home runs, driving in 17 runs, four doubles and stealing three bases.

“Every player since childhood dreams of reaching a Major League team and now I am fulfilling it,” he said proudly.

Roque will seek to have minutes with the Toronto first team, as Mexicans Roberto Osuna, Joakim Soria, Marco Estrada and Alejandro Kirk have done in recent years.

“It is an organization that gives Mexicans a lot of opportunity, both in the senior team and in the minor leagues, so we go with all the confidence in the world,” he said.

The outfielder represented Mexico in 2021 at the U23 World Championship, where he finished runner-up.

“There were many blessings that I received in the year, I am very surprised and I must take advantage of these great opportunities that are being given to me.”
