Nadal is convincingly beating the first round of the Australian Grand Slam

With a convincing victory in the season’s first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open, Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal kicked off the American Marcus Giron (ATP 66) in three sets in the first round.

Nadal, who finished sixth in the tournament, was 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 49 minutes.

The 35-year-old Spaniard has won the Australian Open only once – in 2009, but together with Roger Federer of Switzerland and Novak Djokovic of Serbia, he shares the title of Grand Slam tennis player – they each have 20 trophies.

As you know, Djokovic will not take part in the Australian Open. The first-time nine-time winner of the tournament left Australia on Sunday after the country’s Supreme Court upheld the immigration minister’s decision to cancel his visa.
