Robinho sentenced to nine years in prison for rape!

Sentenced to nine years in prison by an Italian court for committing gang rape in 2013 while playing at AC Milan, Robinho played very big. The 37-year-old former striker was tried on Wednesday by the Court of Cassation in Rome. A hearing that lasted thirty minutes and whose judgment has just been given. Thus, the last appeal presented by the Brazilian and his lawyers was rejected by the Italian courts. With his friend Ricardo Falco, Robinho was previously sentenced to 9 years in prison for acts dating back to January 22, 2013 in a nightclub in Milan. With four other Brazilians aged 20 to 25 at the time of the events (29 for Robinho) and his friend, Robinho allegedly gang-raped a 23-year-old woman of Albanian origin. The other four Brazilians left Italy during the investigation and have not been charged unlike Robinho and Ricardo Falco.

Tapes proved Robinho talked about a drunk woman to conjure up the victim while semen belonging to Ricardo Falco was allegedly found on the victim’s clothes. During the 2020 second instance trial where the Milan Court of Appeal upheld the initial nine-year prison sentence, Robinho’s contemptuous attitude towards the victim was reportedly underlined by the three judges in charge of the session. Still denying these accusations, the two men cannot be extradited since the 1988 Constitution prohibits the extradition of Brazilians. It is practically impossible for them to be arrested except when traveling abroad. For this, the Italian State will have to issue an international arrest warrant.
