Arsenal Vs Liverpool: The Reds Without Chamberlain

Liverpool

Liverpool got bad news ahead of the English League Cup semi-final second leg duel against Arsenal. Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain has been ruled out due to injury.

Chamberlain started last weekend as Liverpool beat Brentford 3-0 at Anfield last weekend. He made Liverpool’s second goal in the 66th minute.

But, shortly after scoring a goal, Chamberlain had to be withdrawn because he got a tackle from the Brentford players. Chamberlain was in pain clutching his ankle.

The injury also made Chamberlain have to miss the English League Cup match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Friday (21/1/2022) early morning WIB tomorrow.

Because, his condition is not really fit so he had to miss the training session from the beginning of this week. However, Chamberlain is expected to be able to play against Crystal Palace this weekend in the Premier League.

“If we talk about Ox, first of all we have to talk about his outstanding performance,” Liverpool assistant manager Pep Linjders was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“He is very important for us, for the team, because he can play in various positions with great quality.”

“I spoke to him yesterday and he is fine, the injury is not serious, and he hopes to play at the weekend. But tomorrow it will be too soon. We are monitoring his condition every day.”

Liverpool also have not been able to play Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi who are still recovering from injury. Both are expected to appear the fastest against Cardiff City in the FA Cup next month.

Liverpool need a win to advance to the English League Cup final against Arsenal as they were only a goalless draw at home last week.
