The Wolves of the UPN and the cocoteros of Vida shared a point after drawing 1-1 in a duel that marked the start of the Closing Tournament 2022 from Honduran National League.
The clash took place at the Marcelo Tinoco de Danlí stadium and despite the fact that it was the first match of the championship, at times it was a game of many emotions in the areas.
38 minutes into the first half, the Colombian striker Rafael Agamez He was in charge of opening the scoring by connecting a center that Elison Rivas sent down the left wing.
Attacker Agámez is back in Catracho football from Municipal Pérez Zeledón in Costa Rica and was previously part of Honduras Progreso where he had a great championship.
Already in the complement part, the local team directed by Raúl Cáceres, matched the cards in the minute 73 through César Guillén since he took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Roberto López at the moment he tried to clear the ball.
Actions
The match began with a coconut team exerting high pressure, forcing the Wolves to resort to error or hitting the ball to get out of their zone.
At minute 4, the ceibeños were about to open the account when Juan Pablo Montes headed a corner kick from the right and forced goalkeeper Bryan Cruz to contain the ball on the line.
At minute 25, Vida again created danger in Cruz’s goal when Edson Palacios sent a center from the right that Luis Meléndez headed in, but easy for the goalkeeper.
The reds managed to open the lock at minute 37 after a genius by Elison Rivas, who won the band and sent a cross to the spot where Agámez managed to push it into the net.
Five minutes were enough for Guillén to put the tie
For the complement, Raúl Cáceres brought in Kilmar Peña and Samuel Elvir to look for a tie, but their team did not seem to be on the field.
Antony García at 52 had a rebound left in the area and took a shot that forced Cruz to send for a corner. Then at 63, the youthful Juan Ramón Contreras controlled a center from Agamez from the chest and took a shot that passed by kissing the post.
Cáceres then saw that the Portuguese Fernando Mira renewed his midfield and brought out Alexander Aguilar, Roger Sander and Marvin Bernárdez and took the opportunity to bring in Guillén and Enrique Vázquez.
At 72, in a center from the right that Roberto “Pipo” López half-rejected, the ball crashed into Guillén and went inside for the final 1-1.
Referee Saíd Martínez at 84 awarded a penalty in favor of the university students, but ended up correcting after the assistant’s indication of a clear advanced position by Enrique Vázquez.
On the next day, the UPN Wolves will be visiting Honduras Progreso in a clash to be held this Saturday, January 22, starting at 7:15 pm.
A day later, Vida will visit Motagua at the Tegucigalpa National Stadium and the initial whistle of the match will be at 4:00 pm.
