It is a delicate case, which must be carried out without pause, but without haste. In Millonarios they know that crucial days are being played to find out the future of Andrés Felipe Román, the club’s right back who is a figure in the team and whose contract ends next June.
To date, Román has not reached an agreement to renew his bond with the Bogota club, and he wanted to be free in the middle of the year to negotiate with any team, in Colombia or abroad. What happened in the talks?
The player trains normally, and tells his teammates that he leaves everything in the hands of his employer, the Argentine Carlos Scoles, who has told him that he can place him abroad in the second half of 2022.
On behalf of the leadership, Gustavo Serpa (major shareholder of the club) has already maintained telephone contact with Román’s agent and hopes to meet with Scoles in a couple of weeks, as he hopes to renew for one year with the player.
On behalf of the club they were clear: no offers have come to the club for Román, so if the agent has them, let him bring them. However, they ask him to do it soon to close a possible operation before June, and thus Millonarios obtains an economic gain, even if he does not want to part with the player.
The concern continues to be that the player and his employer wait until June to fulfill their contract and go to another team without leaving anything to Millonarios, as happened at the time with Jhon Duque.
Injury or pressure?
This Wednesday the team reported that Andrés Felipe Román presented discomfort and is doubtful to enter the list of Millonarios travelers to debut in the BetPlay I-2022 League against Deportivo Pasto.
However, the question remains whether it is a mechanism to leave the player out of competition, at least for now, while he makes his decision (it happens a lot in football) or they are even taking care of him for a possible operation.
