Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the winter transfer window. But the 21-year-old boy from Serbia prefers to wait until the end of the season.
As reported by Sky Sports, Fiorentina are actually open to the possibility of selling Vlahovic this month. Moreover, his contract only left until June 2023, and he was reluctant to extend his tenure in Florence.
Letting go of Vlahovic in January also has the potential to bring in more money for Fiorentina than this summer, where big clubs are believed to be more daring in bidding prices. La Viola is known to set a price of 70 million Euros.
Arsenal is known to be a serious fan. They reportedly want to include Lucas Torreira in the purchase of Vlahovic so that the price can go down. Torreira is known to be on loan at Fiorentina from Arsenal, and has the potential to be permanent.
But Vlahovic, who has scored 17 goals in Serie A this season, is reportedly in no rush to move. He prefers to wait until the end of the season, see which clubs actually appear in the Champions League and are interested in his services.
Although Arsenal currently have a chance to qualify for the Champions League next season, the situation is not clear because they are still competing with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United is also not out of the competition.
In addition, Vlahovic reportedly still wants to help Fiorentina qualify for the European club competition next season. Vincenzo Italiano’s squad is currently sixth in the Serie A standings with 35 points.
In addition, Vlahovic also wants to seal the status of Serie A’s top scorer this season. This of course will not materialize if he moves to London in the middle of the season.
Arsenal are in need of a new striker. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in June, and have not been renewed. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been sidelined for the past month due to disciplinary issues, and is now experiencing heart problems after being exposed to COVID-19.
